Reliability study at the Schulthess Clinic in Zurich
20.05.2011
Researchers from the Neuromuscular Research Laboratory of the Schulthess Clinic will conduct a methodological study to examine the reliability of the MyotonPRO device. The main aim of the study, which is scheduled to start in Q3 2012, is to examine the intra- and inter-observer as well as the intra- and inter-session reliability of measurements taken by MyotonPRO on both patients and healthy adults.
Schulthess Clinic is one of the leading orthopaedic clinics in Europe with more than 13 000 surgical interventions per year and a dynamic research department. As an orthopaedic centre of excellence it concentrates on the more demanding treatment of the musculoskeletal system. The Schulthess Clinic is a Swiss Olympic Medical Center and the home to the FIFA Medical Centre of Excellence and FIFA Medical Assessment and Research Centre (F-MARC).
The Schulthess Clinic is an excellent partner for Myoton as the structure strongly relies on a multidisciplinary approach based on the interaction of different medical specialties such as orthopaedics, rheumatology, neurology and sports medicine, all of which are areas where the MyotonPRO device has the potential to contribute to the objective assessment of superficial skeletal muscles, tendons and ligaments.
Principal investigator of the study is Dr. Nicola A. Maffiuletti, Ph.D., Head of the Neuromuscular Research Laboratory.
